Terms of service

Plain-language summary: you own your site and content, you approve what gets published (unless you switch on autopilot), you can cancel any time, and you're responsible for checking AI drafts before they go live.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of CiteMagnet (“CiteMagnet”,“we”, “us”), including our website, dashboard, snippet, emails and integrations (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for it, and “you” refers to that business.

2. The service

CiteMagnet audits websites for search engine and AI-search optimization issues, drafts fixes and content using AI, and — when you connect a site builder or install our snippet — applies approved changes and publishes content to your website. On plans that include them, the Service also rescans your site automatically and emails you reports; you can change email preferences in your account settings. We may improve, change or discontinue features over time; if we remove a feature that is material to a paid plan, we will give you reasonable notice.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old and provide accurate account information.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
  • Tell us promptly at hello@citemagnet.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • You may only add websites that you own or are authorized to manage.

4. Plans, billing and cancellation

The Service is available on paid plans only. Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor Stripe, and renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method for each renewal.

  • You can cancel at any time from the Billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep paid features until then.
  • Plan limits (such as audits, AI posts and AI fixes) reset each calendar month. Plans described as “unlimited” are subject to reasonable fair use.
  • Prices exclude applicable taxes, which may be added at checkout.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice; changes apply from your next renewal.
  • Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, though we review refund requests individually.
  • If a payment fails, we may limit paid features until it is resolved.

5. Site connections and permissions

When you connect a site builder or install our snippet, you authorize CiteMagnet to access your site within the permissions you grant, and to make the changes you approve — such as updating titles, descriptions, image alt text and structured data, and publishing posts. We only use those permissions for these purposes.

If you turn on autopilot features, you authorize CiteMagnet to generate and publish content and apply the categories of fixes you have enabled without approving each one individually. You can turn autopilot off or disconnect an integration at any time.

Your use of a site builder remains subject to that provider's own terms. We are not responsible for outages, changes or limitations of third-party platforms.

6. AI-generated content

CiteMagnet uses AI models provided by Anthropic to produce suggestions and drafts. AI output can contain errors or omissions. You are responsible for reviewing content before it is published and for everything published on your website, including through autopilot.

Pay particular attention to prices, opening hours, allergen, dietary, nutritional and health information, and any claims about products. CiteMagnet does not verify these facts and they must not be relied on without your review.

We do not guarantee any particular search ranking, traffic or business result. Search engines decide rankings independently.

7. Your content

You keep all rights to your website, business information and the content we generate for you. You grant CiteMagnet a limited license to host, process and transmit that content solely to provide and improve the Service. You confirm you have the rights to the content you give us, and that publishing it will not infringe anyone else's rights.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • audit, crawl or connect websites you don't own or have permission to manage;
  • use the Service to create spam, misleading or deceptive content, fake reviews or content that violates search engine guidelines;
  • attempt to bypass plan limits, rate limits or security controls, or probe or disrupt the Service;
  • reverse engineer the Service, or resell it without our written permission;
  • use the Service for anything unlawful or harmful.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay, or use the Service in a way that risks harm to us, other users or third parties. Where reasonable, we will give notice and a chance to fix the problem first. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CiteMagnet will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold CiteMagnet harmless from claims arising out of content published to your website, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which CiteMagnet is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
